Additive Manufacturing /

3D Printing

WHY AM?

In todays high-tech industries the optimization of products regarding their mechanical, thermal and/or fluid dynamical behaviour leads to highly complex geometries. In most cases those geometries cannot be manufactured by conventional production methods like casting or CNC machining in terms of technical restrictions or economical reasons.
Here additive manufacturing comes into play. Fast, flexible and especially for small production quantities preferable to casting and CNC with respect to production economics.

What does NUVAYA offer?

Currently we offer the manufacturing of products using the following 3 AM methods:
  1. WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) for medium to large geometries (>300x300x300 mm). A broad range of metal alloys can be offered:
    • Steel (e.g. SS 304, 308LSi, 316L)
    • Titanium (Ti6Al4V)
    • Aluminium (Al 4043, AI 5356)
    • Copper (CuSn6P, CuSi3Mn1)
    • Inconel (718, 625)
  2. SLM / DLMS (Selective Metal Melting / Direct Laser Metal Sintering) for small to medium sized structures (<300x300x300 mm). The following metals can be offered:
    • Steel (e.g. SS 304, 308LSi, 316L)
    • Aluminium (e.g. Alsi10mg)
    • Titanium (Ti6Al4V)
    • Inconel (718, 625)
  3. FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) for the production of small to medium sized polymers based parts. The following materials can be offerd:
    • PA12, PA11, PA12GB, PP, TPU

CNC Machining

WHY CNC?

CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) machining belongs to the substractive manufacturing methods and is one of the most commonly used methods in the industry.
This method is especially used for metals with the highest requirement to tolerances. Depending on the complexity of the geometrie, this method can be used for small to medium production quantities.

WHAT does NUVAYA OFFER?

Modern CNC machines are available for the manufacturing of high quantity series or low quantity special parts at highest precision and therefor lowest geometric tolerances. Following materials can be used:
  • Steel, aluminium, titanium, brass and PEEK (high performance plastics for high temperature high mechanical stress applications)

CFRP

WHY CFRP?

Leightweight, high mechanical as well as chemical resilience and excellent shaping possibilites. Those are the predominant characteristics of CFRP. Although, all of the above mentioned characteristics are important, in most cases CFRP is preferred due to its outstanding weight-to-(mechanical) strength ratio.

WHAT does NUVAYA offer?

Nuvaya offers CFRP parts in conjunction with  the following CFRP manufacturing methods, in dependance to the requirements on the part:
  1. Prepreg compression moulding
  2. RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding)
  3. Autoclave (for highest mechanical demands)

casting

Iron- and Aluminium

WHY CASTING?

It is one of the oldest manufacturing methods for metal parts known to man.
It is therefore proven and versatile. Casting methods are characterized by high flexibility in shaping and a high ability to influence material properties (alloys).
With respect to production economics casting is the preferable manufacturing method for high to very high production quantities. This is well shown by the typical regressive cost behavior of the effective per piece price with increasing quantities produced.

WHAT DOES NUVAYA OFFER?

From classical cast iron to spheroidal graphite cast iron (ductile iron) for high temperature exposition applications to investment casting for high requirements on surface finishing and dimensional accuracy to aluminium die casting.
Depending on the customer demands Nuvaya supplies cast parts at best price-performance ratios.
